Day 1: Landfall and the Grand Delusion
- 8:00 AM (approximately): Arrive at Rhodes Airport. Already sweating, thanks to the "magical" Greek sun. Baggage claim is a glorious free-for-all. Found my suitcase! (Miracle!)

¿De verdad es tan paradisíaco como dicen?
¡Ufff! Mira, "paraíso"... es una palabra MUY fuerte. ¿Un buen hotel con unas vistas de infarto y la playa a dos pasos? Sí. ¿Un lugar donde los problemas se evaporan como el ouzo en una noche fresca? Digamos que... casi. La verdad, yo fui con unas expectativas por las nubes, y la realidad, aunque preciosa, tuvo sus "peros". El paraíso perfecto no existe, ¿verdad? ¡Pero las puestas de sol, ay, las puestas de sol! Casi te hacen olvidar el precio del helado... casi.
¿Qué tal las habitaciones? ¿Son amplias y cómodas?
Aquí la cosa es un poco lotería. Yo reservé una "vista mar lateral" que, en realidad, era más bien "vista mar... si te estiras por la ventana y entre los árboles". Un poco decepcionante, la verdad. Pero la habitación en sí, era bastante decente. Cama cómoda, baño limpio (¡lo valoro mucho!), y aire acondicionado que no se tomaba un respiro. Mi amiga, en cambio, consiguió una con terraza directa a la playa. ¡Para morirse de envidia! Ella sí que se sentía en el paraíso, la muy... afortunada (¡y lo disfrutó mucho!). Así que, mi consejo: intenta conseguir la habitación con la mejor vista que puedas, porque el resto, más o menos, se parecen. ¡Y reza por la suerte!
¿La comida es buena? ¿Hay variedad?
¡Ay, la comida! Bueno, aquí te hablo desde el corazón de una glotona. El buffet libre era… inmenso. Demasiado, incluso. Al principio te emocionas, ¡vaya! "¡Voy a probar DE TODO!" Luego, al tercer día, estás un poco saturado de las mismas opciones. Eso sí, había estaciones de cocina en vivo que salvaban un poco la situación. Las gyros, ¡mmm!, las gyros eran mi perdición. Y los postres... un peligro. ¡Literalmente, un peligro para mi cintura! Pero bueno, siempre hay cosas que te gustan. Lo importante es ir con la mente abierta y no esperar alta cocina con estrella Michelin. Es comida de hotel, rica y variada, pero comida de hotel, al fin y al cabo. Eso sí, el restaurante a la carta… ese sí que valía la pena. ¡El pulpo a la parrilla era una maravilla! (Aunque, claro, había que pagar un extra… ¡qué le vamos a hacer!).
¿Qué actividades hay en el resort? ¿Es aburrido?
¡Para nada aburrido! Hay de todo: piscinas para aburrir (una de ellas, con chorritos y cascadas, ¡una maravilla!), la playa a pie de hotel (con tumbonas y sombrillas a tutiplén, aunque a veces había que madrugar para pillar sitio...), deportes acuáticos (si te va la marcha)... Y por la noche, espectáculos. Vale, a veces eran un poco… “sui generis”. Una noche, unos chicos intentaron hacer un musical de ABBA, ¡y casi me muero de la risa! Pero, bueno, te ríes un rato, te tomas un cóctel… ¡El ambiente es relajado! Si buscas marcha pura y dura, quizás no sea el sitio ideal… Pero si quieres tranquilidad, sol, playa y un poco de diversión, ¡sí, es perfecto! Yo me lo pasé pipa, a pesar de todo, ¡y eso que soy un poco quejica!
¿Vale la pena ir con niños al Amada Colossos?
¡Absolutamente! El hotel está pensado para familias. Tienen un montón de actividades para los peques, piscinas infantiles, un club infantil... Vi a montones de niños correteando felices por ahí. ¡Ah! Y la playa, con arena fina y agua cristalina, es ideal para que jueguen sin peligro. Yo no tengo hijos, pero me pareció un buen lugar para ir en familia. ¡Y a los padres se les veía relajados! (Aunque, claro, con niños nunca se está del todo relajado, ¿verdad?).
¿Cómo es el servicio? ¿Son amables?
En general, sí, son amables. Pero a veces… (¡ay, los "pero a veces"!). Depende de la persona, claro. Hubo camareros encantadores que te hacían sentir como en casa. Otros, un poco menos… Pero bueno, es la ley de la vida, ¿no? Siempre hay gente que tiene un mal día. Lo importante es que la mayoría se esforzaba por atenderte bien y por hacerte sentir cómodo. ¡Y hablaban un montón de idiomas! Así que, en general, ¡bien! (Aunque, sí, algún que otro "pero" hubo...).
¿Qué tal la playa? ¿Es buena?
¡La playa…! ¡Aquí es donde el Amada Colossos se lleva un sobresaliente! Arena dorada, agua turquesa, ¡casi transparente! ¡Y la temperatura del agua! ¡Una maravilla! Pasé horas y horas nadando, tomando el sol, leyendo un libro… Es una playa muy amplia, con espacio para todos. Eso sí, a veces, por la tarde, hay un poco de viento y puede haber alguna ola. Pero, en general, ¡es fantástica! ¡De las mejores playas en las que he estado! Eso sí, ¡cuidado con el sol! ¡Yo me quemé el primer día, y fue un horror! Así que, protector solar, sombrero y gafas de sol… ¡IMPRESCINDIBLES!
¿Recomendarías el Amada Colossos?
¡Uf! Aquí viene la pregunta del millón. ¿Recomendaría el Amada Colossos? Pues… sí. Con reservas, claro. Si buscas un hotel de lujo extremo, quizás no sea tu sitio. Si quieres una experiencia perfecta sin pegas, tampoco. Pero si buscas un buen hotel con una playa increíble, unas instalaciones aceptables, un ambiente relajado y una buena relación calidad-precio… ¡sí, definitivamente! Yo me lo pasé muy bien.
